Volunteers Needed! The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) is looking for student volunteers to help out in the current season of income tax filing. This is the Volunteer E-Filing Service (VES).
This is a good opportunity to build your spirit of volunteerism and at the same time gain new experiences while helping taxpayers to e-File during the tax filing period.
Your role as a volunteer is to guide taxpayers to navigate the e-Filing website to complete filing of income tax and assist managers at the VES centres. We have been assured that you will not be made liable for the declarations made by the taxpayers.
This year, VES will be available from 26 Mar to 17 Apr 2011 (every Sat and Sun, 2pm-6pm), and to familiarize you with your role; IRAS will conduct a 3-hour e-Filing training to prepare you for the service. The training will be conducted at Revenue House (IRAS' office building). Thereafter, you will be assigned to one of the 23 VES centres.
In appreciation of your effort and time, IRAS will present to you a certificate of appreciation; and you will also stand a chance to be nominated for the Outstanding e-Filing Volunteer Awards or the Commendation Awards. We are proud to say that many ACCA students have been recipients of these awards. You will also be invited to the Appreciation Ceremony to be held tentatively in June 2011.
A long-time VES volunteer, Paul, has set up a Facebook group for volunteers to share their experiences and contribute photos. So to keep abreast of the happenings and share information, be a fan of the “IRAS e-Filing Volunteers Group” (http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=58699037345)!
We are sure you will have a fulfilling experience as a VES volunteer, so sign up now!!
